Chestnut Class
Welcome to Chestnut Class. We are a mixed Year 3 and 4 class and we range from 7 to 9 years old. Our class teacher is Mrs. Montgomerie and our class LSA is Mrs. Wood. On Wednesday afternoons we are taught by Mrs. Jordan and Mr. Davies.
We will be learning about the Anglo-Saxons in History this term. We will also be learning about weaving in Art, where alongside traditional weaving that Anglo-Saxons may have practised, we will study the work of the modern artist Gunta Stolzl. In Science we will learn more about the human skeleton, and after half-term we will find out how sounds are made and heard. Our Computing work this year will help us learn about how devices are connected via networks, and in Geography we will use the road network to plan journeys, and think about whether all villages are the same. We will also learn about the months of the year and how to say basic information about ourselves in French.
Class Information:
Please encourage your child to read to you daily. They will benefit from regularly discussing the vocabulary and content of their book with an adult, so if you read to them, please discuss the storyline and any unfamiliar words that they might hear.
Times tables should also be practised regularly at home (using the Times Tables Rockstars website) as the children will not only need to use these skills in their Maths learning, but also in preparation for the Year 4 multiplication test. SumDog activities will also be set for children to complete during the week.
PE is on Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesday, all children should come to school in their uniform and bring their kit with them. On Friday, we would like the children to wear their PE kits to school. They do not need a change of clothes.
