Attendance
At Cliddesden we believe that good attendance is key to good attainment. Therefore we encourage children to attend school every day unless they are not well enough. Holidays during term time are not encouraged and will not be authorised unless they are for an exceptional circumstance. It is up to the Headteacher’s discretion to consider what is ‘exceptional’.
An absence is unauthorised if time is taken out of school for any reason other than illness or medical that has not been agreed by the headteacher or giving no valid reason for an absence.
If a child is off sick, has a medical appointment, is educated off-site (e.g. a music exam or visit to a secondary school) and the school is notified, this would be an authorised absence.
All schools are required to work with Hampshire County Council to take legal action if:
- A child has unauthorised absence for 10 or more sessions.
- A child is continually late to school and this lateness is unauthorised for 10 or more sessions.
- A child has any unauthorised absence during any formal examinations, assessment or testing.
If your child is sick please contact the school office before 8:45 am. If your child is late for school please go to the school office so that they can be marked in the register.
We thank you for your support on this matter.
