The Ram's Head Rugby Festival
Our Tag Rugby team travelled to Overton Rugby Club to take part in The Rams Head festival. Victors in the Norman League earlier this year, they qualified to play against the top teams from the other seven leagues across Basingstoke and north Hampshire.
The team started well with victories against Sherborne St John, Ecchinswell and Longparish. We then lost narrowly to Great Binfields, drew against Hurstborne Tarrant and were beaten by Oakley and Castle Hill, finishing in 5th place overall. This wasn’t a disappointment though, as we knew the competition would be tough. Oakley once again were the overall winners.
A special mention goes to Tyler who throughout all the competitions, scored the most tries for Cliddesden. His speed and agility are exceptional.
At the end we were awarded the cup for winning the Norman League for the first time since 2018. It was a special day as it marked Roger Filbey’s last competition. Roger has been organising the leagues and festivals for countless years and will be missed. We thank him for his dedication. We hope to continue a league next year with other local schools.
