Chestnut Class - Titanic Museum
On Wednesday 14th May Chestnut Class travelled to Sea City Museum, Southampton as part of our Titanic History work. Our tour guide Immy, shared many stories from the Titanic and the links to Southampton. After the tour, the children split into four groups and completed activities in a workshop. Firstly, they looked at artefacts to decide what and how they were used, then decoded morse code messages sent from the Titanic, next they decided who should a space in a lifeboat and why. Lastly, they investigated how the water tight doors on the Titanic failed using an ice cube tray. After a quick lunch the children were given a worksheet and went back into the museum to find different items and who they belonged to. A fantastic trip to support the children's learning.
