Class C - World Cup and Basingstoke FC
This half term Class C's mini topic of 'Fantastic Football' has been looking at The World Cup. We started by finding out where the tournament was being held on maps then finding the other countries participating.
In Geography, we have been finding out about Brazilian animals and making fact files for Fuleco - the World Cup mascot.
In History, we thought about what makes a great footballer. The children have written facts about their favourite footballers from all over the world.
Through stories, we have learnt about poverty in Brazil and how football continues to inspire a nation of footballers.
In French, the children learnt the names of many countries in the World Cup and made flags for them.
The children had some of their Art work shown at the Cliddesden Art Exhibition in June. They painted ideas representing the World Cup varying colours from the Brazilian flag.
We had a very successful visit from the coaches of Basingstoke Town FC and learnt many new skills and played our own tournament of Brazil, France, Costa Rica and Holland. Brazil won of course!
