Year 2 - Streets Ahead
Many thanks to Mrs Emery and Mrs Banks for running the Streets Ahead programme with our Year 2 children. They thoroughly enjoyed these sessions and learning about these vital life skills.
Streets Ahead has been developed to make children aware of the dangers faced when crossing the road and dealing with traffic.
Lesson 1
The Green Cross Code -
stop, look and listen.
How to cross the road -
the right and wrong ways.
What they should wear -
how to dress and behave properly when crossing the road
Lesson 2
Where they should cross -
the children discussed zebra crossings, pelican crossings, traffic islands, lollipop people, subways and bridges.
How to use a Pelican crossing -
the children had to put the instructions in the right order and find the safest places to cross.
Lesson 3
Keeping safe on pavements.
Finding the safest route by using the information they had already been taught.
Places to play safely.
Crossing between parked cars.
