Walk to school week
Walk to school week allows children to stop, listen, look and think about the green cross code before crossing the road. Children were encouraged to think about potential hazards such as driveways, junctions, parked cars and bends. They were encouraged to work out the safest route to walk even if this meant the journey took a little longer. Walking also gave the chance to learn about the local environment, chat about their day and the benefits of a healthier start to the day. Certificates were available to all children who managed to walk at least once during Walk to school week.
